Eros Multimedia and Ayngaran International produce Superstar Rajinikanth’s next directed by Shankar. Music wizard A. R. Rahman will be roped in the project, that is planned to be made in a whooping budget of Rs.100 crores.

"Robot" is all set to become the most grand and expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. The movie will be simultaneously produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages. Robot will have the state-of-the-art technology.

Eros International is an established global player in the fast-growing Indian media and entertainment arena. It has built a successful business model around the release of 30 new films every year and has film library containing more than 1,300 titles, making it one of the largest content owners in the business. Eros has the possession of the distribution rights for films including ‘Devdas’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, and ‘Partner’.

Ayngaran Internation, has been the pioneers in Tamil Film Distribution in theatrical and home video formats in the International Market. The History of Ayngaran business dates back to 1987 when it had the vision to acquire the International Rights across formats of many Tamil films that became blockbusters. The Ayngaran library has over 1500 films including ‘Sivaji’, "Padayappa’, ‘Chandramukhi’, and ‘Indian’.

Director Shankar is considered as one of the leading commercial directors in India today. It is worth recalling that his latest offering Sivaji, starring Rajini, had a good run all over the world. It was listed in the Top 10 movies of UK during June-July 2007. It had a decent run all over India as well.

Shankar is one of the most successful directors of south India. Almost all of his films have been blockbusters in Tamil and Telugu. His films carry a distinctive mark in terms of racy script, sleek presentation, fabulous music, grandeur, amazing technical values, and a strong message. Sopme of his movies have been remade or dubbed in Hindi as well. Hindustani, Humse Hai Muqabla, and Nayak were received well by the Hindi audience. His dubbed film Aparchit (Anniyan in Tamil), starring Vikram, was well received by the audiences and critics. He is one of the directors who dares to venture into big budget films and emerge successfully.

Interestingly, Robot has been in the news for nearly ten years. Director Shankar has been contemplating with many names for his dream project. First it was said that Kamal Haasan would act in it. Then Vikram’s name surfaced. Post ‘Sivaji’, we heard that Hrithik Roshan would be the dream hero. Then came the name of Aamir Khan. Finally Shankar made an official announcement that it would be Shah Rukh Khan, who would don the role in his most intimate project.

However, it came as a setback to the director when SRK opted out from the project. Some leading Tamil magazines speculated Ajith (who acted in Ashoka with SRK), would be roped in. But finally Superstar Rajnikanth has agreed to act in the movie and that puts an end to all speculations about the project.

Since the project would cost hundred crore rupees, it goes without saying that it needs a star like Rajini, who has incredible market value, to redeem the money and ensure profit for the investors and distributors.

It is also said that Amithab Bachchan would don an important role in the film. It is also being specualted that Deepika Padukone might be playing the leading lady.
